Something About Airplanes, was recorded and produced on 8 analog tracks by Chris Walla at the Hall of Justice (located at the time in the Ellis street house where Ben, Chris and Nick lived in Bellingham, WA). Nathan Good helped mix it, and Tony Lash mastered it at super digital in Portland, OR. The string parts on "Bend..." and "Face..." were written and arranged by Erika Jacobs. The original compact disc was released August 18, 1998 (Barsuk/Elsinor catalog numbers krang005/els017).

Disc two was recorded Febuary 25, 1998 by Chuck Robertson at the Crocodile Cafe (and later mixed by him from a live sound mix by Jim Anderson), and was mastered in May, 2008 by Roger Seibel at Sae in Phoenix, AZ.
