Death Cab Reach the 'New Pantheon'

Death Cab Unveil 'Directions'
Death Cab for Cutie has announced details of their upcoming “DIRECTIONS,” an innovative anthology of 12 short films inspired by each song on the band’s acclaimed album PLANS. Every song will be delivered by a different director. 11 of the videos will be unveiled one by one at www.deathcabforcutie.com. The first of which will be 'Marching Bands of Manhattan' on January 23. The entire collection will be available on dvd to purchase April 11, 2006. Among the filmmakers contributing to “DIRECTIONS” are Lance Bangs, P.R. Brown, Ace Norton, Jeffrey Brown, Lightborne, Autumn de Wilde, Rob Schrab, Laurent Briet and Monkmus, as well as Aaron Stewart-Ahn . Be sure and check the website for more details in the coming days!

Ben To Play NY Solo Show
Ben will be playing a solo acoustic show in New York City on Tuesday, January 10 at the Bowery Ballroom. Joining him on the bill are Matthew Caws of Nada Surf and Andrew Kenny of American Analog Set. Tickets are $20 and the show is 18 and over. Tickets can be purchased here.

Death Cab Nominated for a GRAMMY Award
'Plans' has been nominated for a Grammy Award in the 'Best Alternative Music Album' Category! It is up against some stiff competition as the other nominees are the Arcade Fire, The White Stripes, Beck, and Franz Ferdinand. The winner will be announced on February 8.

Bring in the New Year with Death Cab!
So this is the New Year ... Death Cab for Cutie will be celebrating New Year's Eve in Downtown Los Angeles as part of Giant Village Festival. Joining them will be The Flaming Lips, Black Eyed Peas, The Crystal Method, John Digweed, Junkie XL, and many more. Giant Village is, well, a giant extravaganza. It covers six city blocks and features five stages. Death Cab performs on the HOPE stage stage. General admission pre-sale tickets are $75. You can buy them here.
